More pics of Sram's Biplane Assembly Jig

Took some pics of Sram's biplane assembly jig with 48's scale Ni-17 on the jig. That's one of the best modeling tool I've purchased this year. Here're the pics:

biplane assembly jigRoman had posted a comment - wondering if this jig would help building 1/72 kits. I have Roden's Fokker D.VII 1/72 kit I think of giving a try - my guess would be that Sram's biplane assembly jig would also help building 1/72 kits and helping to attach the top wings. Anyway, I'll have to try it myself.

Biplane Assembly Jig

As you might know, one of the most difficult things of building WW1 is attaching the second wing. Which in most of the cases sits on the wing and cabane struts. This the most difficult thing to me - to align and glue the top wing. Now I don't have to worry about it as I've purchased and already enjoy the features Biplane Assembly Jig. Here's the pic of the assembled Jig on Modelimex:

Biplane Assembly JigI have purchased my Jig for less 20 Euros on Modelimex online shop. You can purchase Sram's Biplane Jig here. Here's the picture of Biplane Assembly Jig in dismounted condition:

SRAM's Biplane Assembly JigI've assembled my jig in about 15 minutes. I also discovered that this Biplane Assembly Jig is also helpful when decaling painted models - sometimes I wish I had 4 hands while trying to attach tiny photoetch pieces together or decaling the model. This jig is really a helpful hand. I really think this tool is really worth the investment. I'll post pics of my Eduard's 1/48 Ni-17 on the biplane assembly jig later. All I can say that I'm really happy to see my Nieuport with both wings attached :) All the pics of the Jig are via Modelimex.

Highly recommended! ;)

The most shocking and the most inspiring diorama?

Well, this one diorama here is truelly shocking and the most macabre diorama I've ever seen. According to my information the diorama was built in 10 years by brothers Jake and DinoChapman. This is very crazy and horrifing..

New way of making in flight diorama

Found this one on Aeroscale forums. This indeed is very genius way of making in flight diorama.

Thanx to Frank from Aeroscale forums. Follow the link to see the whole article.

Modelimex hobby shop

Couple days ago I've placed the order (Quickboost resin stuff and Eduard's PE) within Modelimex. Then on the 14th of May I've received e-mail from Modelimex manager Petr Kovar that my parcel was sent to me. And what do you think? On the morning of 16th I've found the "invitation" to the post office to receive my parcel!! Well, that's an operative service! Packagin was in order and everything was inside the parcel. I'm very satisfied with Modelimex service and will surely order from them in future!

Very, very highly recommended!

Shots of New Eduard's Fokker Dr.1 Triplane

Eduard has published pics of their forthcoming 1/48 Fokker Dr.1, which will be featured in some sort of "Royal Kit". Here're the contents of the box according to Eduard:
  • 2 complete kits - Albatros D.V & Fokker Dr.I
  • 4 sheets of photo-etch
  • 3 decal sheets for 10 marking variants
  • 2 sheets of the canopy mask
  • Printed portraits of Richthofen brothers
  • High quality resin figures of Richthofen brothers and their dog
  • 1/3 scale Pour le Mérite pin
Der rote Flieger
Very interesting are the pics of the built 1/48 Fokker Dr.1 triplane - new Eduard's creation. This is definitelly the long awaited kit - the other 1/48 decent Dr.1 kit was manufactured by Dragon and is very rare. The only place, I guess, you can get Dragon's 1/48 Fokker Dr.1 is eBay.

New Eduard's creation looks much better than old Dragon's. The wing detail on Ed's model looks more convincing than Dragon's. Especially pull down between the wing ribs. See it for yourself:

The left picture shows Dragon's kit - the pull down is obviously overdown. While the second picture (on the right side) shows new Ed's built fokker - you can see how subtle are the wing ribs and pull down is almost invisible.

What frightenes me the most is this picture here:

It shows that model is quite hard center so it seats straight on its leg - I guess this can be caused by point of view that the photo was taken and this point of view causes that obvious asymmetry. But who said building WW1 aircrafts is easy? ;)

Another feature that I love about this "Royal" kit are Richthoffen brothers and dog figures. Those look just awesome and will surelly can be built into 1st class WW1 airfield diorama:

Richthoffen brothersYou also get the option to choose from 10 colour schemes (4 for Albatros and 6 for Fokker kits):

This kit is definitelly a good news for every a WW1 1/48 scale modeller, but no doubt a bad news for a WW1 1/48 scale modeller budget... ;)

"Der Rote Baron" ("The Red Baron")

"The Red Baron" - the movie I'm waiting to see the most! It features WW1 aircrafts and "dogfight" scenes. Anyway, see it for yourself:

First shots of Hasegawa's 1/32 P-40E

Aeroscale.co.uk published some really tasty shots of Hasegawa's brand new 1/32 scale P-40E. Seems the model will feature very smooth delicate details and very interesting colour scheme. I guess I know the next big hit ;) All the photos are here.

Pics from Mosonmagyarovar 2008 - Modelshow / Modelcontest in Hungary

RLM.at has posted some very inspiring and interesting pics from Mosonmagyarovar 2008 - Modelshow / Modelcontest in Hungary.

Some really great news from Eduard!

Eduard has published their future plans for the next 3 months.
I personally am very excited about Ed's plans to make Fokker Dr.1 triplan! That it is one of the most know World War 1 airplanes. I really want to have it in my built ;) model collection. Anyway, here's the box art:

Fokker Dr.1 triplaneI'm also getting more & more interested in Hellcats. Especially ones in RAF camouflage. Don't know why, but I really digg them more than ones in USAF camo. This one looks very good:
